Designing

Design is the creation of a plan or convention for the construction of an object, system or measurable human interaction. Designing often necessitates considering the aesthetic, functional, economic, and sociopolitical dimensions of both the design object and design process. In other word Design is the intentional creation of a plan or specification for the construction of an object or system or for the implementation of an activity or process.

Mind Maping

Mind mapping refers to a technique that designers and engineers use to express and generate ideas. All that mind mapping really is, however, is a way to get all of the ideas in your head down onto paper. There is no right or wrong way to mind map. It is simply a visual representation of the thoughts in your head.Mind mapping helps you to release all of the ideas in your head and gives you the opportunity to see those ideas visually. It is a fast and simple way to get your creative juices flowing, and the only tools you need are a pen or pencil and your design notebook.

Design Process

The process of creating a design can be brief (a quick sketch) or lengthy and complicated, involving considerable research, negotiation, reflection, modelling, interactive adjustment and re-design. In some cases, the direct construction of an object without an explicit prior plan (such as in craftwork and some engineering, coding, and graphic design) is also considered to be a design activity.
Substantial disagreement exists concerning how designers in many fields, whether amateur or professional, alone or in teams, produce designs.
There are many ways of describing design processes

1. designers attempt to optimize a design candidate for known constraints and objectives,
2. the design process is plan-driven,
3. the design process is understood in terms of a discrete sequence of stages.
4. designers use creativity and emotion to generate design candidates,
5. the design process is improvised,
6. no universal sequence of stages is apparent – analysis, design and implementation are contemporary and inextricably linked.
   

• Pre-production design
  • Design brief – an early (often the beginning) statement of design goals
  • Analysis – analysis of current design goals
  • Research – investigating similar design solutions in the field or related topics
  • Specification – specifying requirements of a design solution for a product (product design specification)or service.
  • Problem solving – conceptualizing and documenting design solutions
  • Presentation – presenting design solutions
• Design during production
  • Development – continuation and improvement of a designed solution
  • Testing – testing of a designed solution
• Post-production design feedback for future designs
  • Implementation – introducing the designed solution into the environment
  • Evaluation and conclusion – summary of process and results, including constructive criticism and suggestions for future improvements
• Redesign – any or all stages in the design process repeated (with corrections made) at any time before, during, or after production.
